I am putting together a new rig for gaming/work. I'll be using either 3 23" ultrasharps or 2 24" ultras, (1900 x 1050 or 1200v) I mainly use the multiple monitors for work. In my current setup, I don't use the 2nd for gaming ( do any games support dual? ) Rig will be 2500k + a z68 chipset.

Will be playing sc2/bf3/wow/rift etc.

Budget around 400. Looking at either Xfire 6850s or a 6970? Radeon seems to have better success with dual monitors? I don't need top of the line, just a good setup.

Any suggestions? Love this place, been lurking for years. Thanks in advance for the help, you all really help out us lurkers more than you know.

I would go for the 6850 CF because it performs a lot better than a single 6970. The 6850 CF will obviously run a bit noisier and show higher temperature at idle but will probably be neck to neck with the 6970 in load. Since you're using three monitors, I would go with AMD.

Side note: You can always save at least a $100 and buy a 6950 and then flash it to a 6970 but please look into this before proceeding. Don't want you to just take my words for it. Also.. the 6970 stock is running dry... :p
