Hello,
will there be major difference between performance of "3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology" and "2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 580M ".

Yes, there will be quite the difference between the 555 and 580.
I'd say at least 20%+ better performance from the 580m.
As Nvidia likes to proclaim, the GTX 580m is the "fastest notebook GPU ever."
Clocks are much higher, faster memory type, and brand new tech (not that that matters).
The 555m also received mediocre benchmark scores.
The GT and GTX are in completely different classes to say the least.

Just 20%? I'd say more, from what I've seen on notebookcheck.net. The 555 is a highest medium mobile nVidia GPU, all higher stuff - 560, 580 - belong to gaming mobie GPUs and are more expensive and powerful.

Don't go for Alienware unless you've got tons of cash to spend... and re-consider laptops, if you don't travel & game. Trust me, paying 1.5 or 2 times more for a laptop just so that you can drag it from room to room isn't worth it. Get a desktop.
