Hi, dunno if this should go here, but I have a suggestion.
I found this article:
http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] ,1928.html And I thought it might be a good idea to update it (make a new article) with updated hardware. It could be done, perhaps, after ATI releases the 5000 series and nVidia their 300 series.
I think these tests are a matter of great importance for buyers to know how their particular setup will handle gaming.
Bottlenecks could be determined (CPU and GPU bound), and a wide range of CPUs and GPUs (AMD, Intel, Nvidia and ATI (AMD)) should be tested (I say, from a Sempron or Celeron to a Core i7; and from a Geforce 8500 and ATI equivalent to their flagships).
This way caches, cores, speeds and videocards performance can be assessed in particular configurations.
In my particular case, I have an Athlon X2 5200+ (2.7GHz) and a GeForce 8600 GT, and I don't know how badly the CPU will hold back an ATI 4870 or possibly a 5670/5850.
I think many people are in a similar situation and don't have a good way in which to answer this question.
Just a suggestion of mine....
