Computer won't boot on 1600MHz Memory (1333Mhz Only)

October 30, 2012 10:41:53 AM

Another dumb question for the brilliant people here.

I have a ASUS M5A97-Rev 2.0 mother board with a AMD Athlon II x2 270 CPU and 2 sticks of 4GB Kingston Hyper X Blu Memory.

Now this memory say's its stock speed is 1600MHz, and it runs at that in my dad's rig that I built him (I had to take half his 16GB of RAM when I had to build a new comptuer for my self).

I can't get my computer to boot on 1600MHz Memory unless I set it to 1333Mhz. Even with over clocking it only gets up to 1500+ MHz with the CPU at 4GHz.

Is there a way I can boot my computer on 1600MHz memory or am I stuck with 1333MHz?

BTW WHen I say it wont boot, I mean the computer turns on but nothing happens other then the fans spinning and the power light turning on.
