Opinion on ECS A780LM-M2 AM3 Motherboard for new build?

Hello everyone,

First time builder here and I was wondering if this would be a reliable motherboard for my first build.

Power Supply - Not decided yet, would like some recommendations! Will make a separate post for this later but feel free to give me some pointers on this.


Give me any and all advice on the motherboard I listed, other parts and how they work with that motherboard, or just any general tips on computer building.

Can an AM3+ board run an AM3 processor?

I thought it had to be AM3+ as well?

You always go by the "cpu support" list on the board's webpage, which tells you which bios version works with the cpu. Yes, you can run am3 cpus on am3+ motherboards if the cpu is on their support list. I recommend this cpu/board combo instead:
