Okay, so I've been browsing around the net for 8GB worth of RAM and so far I like the Corsair G.SKILL Sniper 8GB. Thing is there are different ones that are registered with different voltages. The voltage range is between 1.2-1.5v. Since HDD performance is linked to the power they consume I was wondering if the same could be said for RAM?

You'll see gskill anywhere from 1.25 to about 1.65. DDR3 spec is 1.5v

For performance there are 2 number to look at though neither one makes a huge impact. First is the CL number. The lower the better. Next is the speed of the ram. They come in 1333, 1600, 1866, 2133.

Unless you're going to learn over clocking. I recommend 1.5v ram and match the speed to what your motherbd supports. Aim for cl9 as that is very common ram.

well now we busted that myth^^

How about the Power Supply myth "The bigger the better"
Im tired of laughing from people who buy 1000W power supplies to power systems that draws max of 200-300w because they herd it will make there system run faster :)

Your best bet is to buy a 1600MHz CL9 1.5v kit.
Pretty much sets itself up = enable XMP = done
