3.0 GHz xps 400 upgrade????

hey i was wondering if there are any 3.0 GHz or 3.2 GHz Pentium D's or 4's (for cheep) that will fit in my xps 400

current: pentium D 2.80 GHz 820 LGA775

i have upgraded cooling so im prepared and i have 4 gigs for ram

i need a new faster processor to handle my GTS 240 its bottle necking @ 45 fps :(  and mw3 loads slow :(  :( 

if anyone has any suggestions it would help

Any dual core CPU's or ones with HYPERTHREADING because most games need at least 2 cores :p 



Edit: saw hyperthreading but didn't see any dual core still ??? Also will the e6600 3.0GHz work???

Core 2 Duo would make a visible impact. Well, u wan't to have some performance that u can see, don't u?

NO
Pentium D only ( unless you really want a P4 ), no Core2Duo will work on your board.

I am not suggesting to buy one, just saying that, to see any difference in performance C2D would do it for sure. Yes, it would not fit!

What mobo do u have available ? Also, do u have e6600?

No my grandma had a HP pivlion w/ pentium dual core e6600 I put it in and it didn't work but it fit in the socket

Its not dual core, its Core 2 Duo E6600. Dual core is something else yet.

Thanks for all the help. I ordered the one in the last post you made today should get it with in 4 days :D , I will come back and tell you if it works good (which it should)

UPDATE:got it today and installed black ops and mw3 wait loading time cut more than half 50 - 65 average fps very happy with upgrade
