Hi there,

My hd 5870 came in the mail today after a long wait, and disappointingly my nzxt alpha was half a inch to small to fit the case into the pci slot (the hdd drive bay got in the way). Since I already paid 140 bucks for the graphic card, I'm not going to return it, but I want to get a better case that can actually fit the rather large card (well its the first big card I got, my older cards were HTCPs). I was wondering if this is going to be a issue for other cases I want to buy, and if you have any good recommendations to get a good cheap gaming case under 70. Yup...

Do this right here and take a file to the sharp edges resulting from the cut, don't waste 80-150$'s on a new case when you can simply notch out the cage.

So your saying literly get a saw and take the HDD out.. it has those bolts in it that are hard to take out.. the ones that don't have screws

Cut half of your hdd cage off, not worth it for new case.

There are rivets holding the cage in place,
You measure up where you need to cut on the cage and mark it,
drill the rivets out, (3-4mm bit) and remove the cage
hacksaw/ angle grind out the part you dont need anymore,
place back in case and use some drive mounting screws through the old rivet holes to fix in place,
its a relatively common mod, may even be a guide or two if you google it
Yup, found a couple of youtube vids showing folks doing it,
