Side Intake or Bottom Intake. Which is better?

Hello,
I had a search but could not find a thread that actually answered this question. I recently recieved a Zalman Z9 plus case and installed my existing system, the only trouble is the pre-installed side fan hums due to the mesh on the panel. Would moving the fan to the location on the base give better airflow?

i apologise if i missed the thread when i searched.
