SO I'm not quite sure what would even make this possible, but occasionally (maybe once or twice a week?) the speaker outputs will randomly change suddenly. What I mean by that is the center channel will start coming out of the rear left speaker, once of the front channels vanishes entirely, the other starts coming out of the wrong speaker, etc. It's like someone went behind the computer and switched the jacks in the middle of me playing.
If i open playback devices and configure the speakers all I have to do is switch to 2.1, and then back to 5.1 and and corrects itself, so it's not an issue with the physical plugs themselves, but it's just so weird and random I don't know exactly what would cause it. Any theories? I'll probably eventually just re-install the drivers if no one has and ideas and it bugs me enough, but this is on a fresh system I just built 3 weeks ago.
Sound card is a Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality (PCI) that I moved over from my old system.
I have noticed so far it's only happened while playing SW:TOR, but not 100% sure if that a coincidence because that's what I'm usually doing when the system is playing sound, or if it actually related.
Edit: just happened w/o SW:TOR running, while watching a Starcraft 2 stream.
Left channels swaps to center channel, right channel stops outputting, center channel comes out of left rear... But again all I have to do is swap to 2.1, and back to 5.1 output and it works correctly. So confused.
Well, I've now removed and re-installed the card physically, as well as done a complete uninstall/re-install of the drivers all the way down to the base window's drivers for it, so if this doesn't work I really will be at a loss.
