Some people said that 2400 is fully unlocked,2500 is locked and 2500k is unlocked. Is the locked means for overclocking or ................?
Can some1 explain to mean in deep ?

The 2400 is unlocked, 2500 is locked, 2500k is unlocked, unlocked means it has a unlocked multiplier which means yes you can overclock and increase your cpu's ghz and locked means the multiplier is locked and you cannot change the multiplier increase your cpu's ghz

I can't stop giggling like a little schoolgirl.....

For Intel's current and forthcoming(until they change it) CPU's the K models are the only unlocked ones Well the X is too(for $1000 it ought to be). The others can only be overclocked slightly, by upping the Bclk a few mhz. Resulting in rather small overclocks.

So unless it's a 2500K 2600K or 2700K it is locked. The newer Sandy-E processors have 2 that are unlocked currently as well.

Sosofm is correct. Although he is wrong about overclocking 400-500 GHZ it is 400-500MHZ.

K model processors are fully unlocked. Non K models are able to be overclocked up to 4 bins over stock via the turbo. So for a 2600 you would be limited to 4.2Ghz. My 2600K however can hit 5Ghz but with more voltage than I am comfortable with. So I am happy with 4.5Ghz. Anything over 4.5 really does nothing anywhere except benchmarks anyway. There is no real world gain unless you are running 3 x GTX 580s or something.
