I upgraded to 2 of the same kind, but after sometime one of the sticks broke. I had to RMA 2 sticks and after complications (with computer firm, not Patriot!) I got back 2x2GB of extreme performance Patriot ram DDR PC6400.
So now I have 6GB of ram, each in dual mode (i hope). Extreme I think could run with lower latency.
(C2D E4500, Asus P5K, Radeon2600XT -(I know!! ), Win7,8 64)
Question 1: is 4x1GB same as 2x2GB? (two pairs still run in dual channel right? or is something faster.
Question 2: does latency make a huge difference in DDR2 (5-5-5-16 vs. 4-4-4-12)?
Question 3: My RAM now work with 2x2GB in dual mode and 2x1GB in dual mode? is that a problem?
Question 4: in CPU-Z my first ram (slot#2 and slot#4) have in timings table JEDEC 1 to 3 and voltage 1.8V, while (slot #1 and #3 ) extreme version in addition to 3 JEDEC also has EPP#1 with 1.9V. What does it mean, does it effect anything?
Is everything OK with a setting like this (I get no errors and nothing) or am I getting very bad performance or something and it would be better to remove those 2x1GB sticks? (I do some photoshop and so and a bit of video encoding, rendering, and multitaskinga lot, so I like RAM)
Unrelated "bonus" question hehe : does better graphic card help a lot in 2D environment (AutoCAD, ArcGis, photoshop or Camtasia etc.)
