is the Asus P8Z68-V PRO motherboard compatible with the i7 2700k cpu

I have this setup in my new build:-

Asus p8z68/gen3
i7 2700k 3.50ghz
Msi Twin Frozr gtx 580
8GB RAM
Etc...

But after setting everything up and checking all my wiring the system doesnt load into the bios. It turns on fine / fans start spinning etc.. just no bios, from searching the webternet and after gvarious tests I belive the issue may be the MoBo needs updating before the 2700k will work with this board.
