I have a p6310f upgraded the processor to a AMD x4 980.
Seemed fine then shows a blue screen saying there's an error with hardware or software. think I should start with upgrading the bios see if that helps.. my psu has already been upgraded to a 600 should be enough for a quad 4 3.7 and the upgrade specs from hp show it can handle that processor.
Any other ideas?

The bio fix just says to fix lock ups not sure if that means blue screen too.

Can you re-create the BSOD? It would help if you can give the exact stop error code. There are a lot of things that can cause a BSOD (drivers error, bad RAM stick...) an exact stop error will help pin point the problem.

Ok thanks for the reply its all fixed.
Before turning it on to see what the error of the BSOD was I decided to take the processor back out and clean it off and put my own heat sink compound.

Then put on the heat sink and turned it on.

So far its been 12 hours of straight gaming and everything is moving right along.
Guess the heat sink compound that was on it from the package wasn't very good?
Or maybe the chip wasn't seated right. what ever its all fixed and im very happy.
