I had a quick question regarding a "low profile" graphics card that I can use for my system. I wanted some suggestions as to what graphics card I should get for a HP Pavillion Slimline s5730f. I know that it is very hard to find graphics cards that will fit in this computer, but I was curious if it could be done. Also, do I need a power source as well? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There's very little demand for PCI Express x1 graphics cards which makes it more difficult to find.
I don't think HP intended for any Pavillion Slimline s5730f owners to upgrade their integrated graphics. Cost cutting, or more likely in order to increase their profit margin, is probably the real reason why HP told Foxconn not to solder a PCI-E x16 slot onto the motherboard.
If you can find a PCI Express x1 graphics card it would use so little power that no PCI Express supplementary power connector would be required.
Here's five PCI Express x1 graphics cards, that Newegg.com sells, that should work. They are all low profile cards and none of them require supplementary power.:
