I'm unable to update bios on my GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard running on Windows 8 Pro

I get the error: "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher" when i try to run 'FLASHSPI'
& "Unsupported 16-Bit Application, The program or feature "\??\C:\Users\technomaniac\Downloads\Gigabyte BIOS\F12f\FLASHSPI.EXE" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available" when i try to run 'autoexec'

BIOS update was downloaded from: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3447#
Both 'F12f'(mb_bios_ga-ma785gm-us2h_f12f) & 'F11'(mb_bios_ga-ma785gm-us2h_f11) versions - had the same issue
Running in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP or Windows 7' & the 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' option didn't help either

Please check my system details below & help me with this situation:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
Version 6.2.9200 Build 9200
System Model GA-MA785GM-US2H
Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 550 Processor, 3100 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Award Software International, Inc. F5, 16-09-2009

16-bit apps simply cannot be run on 64-bit OS (doesn't matter if Windows 8, or 7, or Vista). On 64-bit Windows it can create a virtual 32-bit environment to run 32-bit apps, but it can't further create a virtual 16-bit environment.

A 32-bit version of Windows would allow a16-bit app to run.

I think your only option is to create some kind of bootable DOS or 32-bit WinPE environment, boot into that and run the BIOS update.
