SATA 3GB/s vs SATA 6GB/s

I have a Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H and it only has Sata 3GB/s. if i got a SSD such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239045 which is a Sata 6gb/s would it be compatible? And would it reduce the read/write speeds?

It will be fine. A SATA-III drive will work in a SATA-II port. It will reduce the read/write speeds but not by too much. Getting an SSD will be worth it even if it can't utilise the speed fully. SSDs don't need defragging which is also a plus if you didn't already know.
