How Well Does This CPU Heatsink Perform?

Hello,

So I am getting a i5 2500k CPU soon. I have a Sentey Black Box Series Case. Unfortunately my case will not fit the Hyper 212 Plus by Cooler Master. My case is approx 6-6.5 Inches long. That's almost exactly the height of the Heatsink. Plus I have a side cooler fan that takes up about an inch. So I have about 5-5.5 Inches for a Heatsink. Now I was looking through, and I can't find a decent heatsink that will fit under 6 inches until I looked at this one.

It's currently out of stock on Newegg, but I saw it on a few other sites. So how well will this perform? I want to overclock my CPU to 4GHz. Will this keep it at a good temp? preferably 20C - 30C idle. 30C - 40C under load. If higher, I can make exceptions. Like I said I got that Side panel fan running to increase air flow and I live in Santa Monica so it NEVER gets hotter than 85F here. It's usually 70F or colder. Anyway tell me what you think. Thanks! I just joined Tom's hardware today. So far I LOVE this site. 5 star!

Hahaha. Thanks again!

Looking at the details on Newegg, it looks like it does not support LGA1155? So, it won't fit the 2500k since the 2500k uses a LGA 1155 socket.

1155 and 1156 are compatible! :D

Best solution

1156 and 1155 use the same mounting bracket.

There's not a lot of benchmarks or reviews out there on low-profile coolers. The Noctua NH-C14 $86.99 is probably the best bet, but it's also over twice as expensive. If I had to guess I'd say that the Gemini II would suit your needs.

edit: Heh, looks like we got the 1156/1155 thing under control. What I get for alt-tabbing to find reviews!
