MoBo won't restart after shutting down

I have an EVGA 790i Ultra SLI board that's about 3 1/2 years old. About a year ago I noticed my PC wouldn't wake from hibernation unless I rebooted the unit.

It turns out my on/off switch on the front of the case won't work unless I unplug my PSU and plug it back in again. I can do a restart from the task bar, but if I do a hard shut down I need to unplug/replug my PSU before I can switch it back on.

Anyone know if this is a Motherboard or PSU problem?

I'm about a year away from building a new box, but I'd like to solve this problem if I can.

Thanks,

Boris

More about mobo restart shutting down
  1. It sounds like some power is getting trapped somewhere, had a similar problem and it turned out to be the power Button on the PC case was cycling it back to the mobo.
  2. Thanks, I'm gonna take the case apart and look at the power button from the inside.
