manipulating icons

I downloaded a icon i want to use for my recycle bin (it
is a man in a hamock, i tried to edit it by changing the
original hamock from white to yellow. with the intent of
the yellow hammack icon to be the full recycle bin icon
and the white for empty icon. I tried this in paint got
the hammock changed but had to save it as bitmap and when
i changed the icon it is surround in black. how do i
changed the original icon and save it as another *.ico
file and not a bitmap?

In order to convert a Bitmap image to Icon file or to create a new icon
file, you can use a Third-Party software from the following link:

This has to do with the way you are saving it and try using Zoom/Show grid.
