Hi can any one help me. i dont know what the best intel cpu is at the moment i was thinking of getting the Intel Core I7-3930K 3.20GHz Socket 2011 or the Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4GHz Socket 1155

Any info would help.

First question is what are you going ot be doing with your system? The Intel® Core™ i7-3930K is great for applications that demand high memory bandwidth like media creation work. The problem is that it does cost a lot more than the Intel Core i7-2600K.

If you are looking for a gaming system on the other hand the best bet for you is to drop down to the Intel Core i5-2500K. Since very few games can take advantage of more than 4 threads the value of the Intel Core i7-2600K and the Intel Core i7-3930K in gaming systems isnt much more than the Intel Core i5-2500K. So save yourself over a $100 and goes with the Intel Core i5-2500K in a gaming system.

What are you using this computer for? If it's for gaming the I7 is a waste. Most games right now wouldn't really make use of the 8mb cache or the hyper threading. For gaming the I5 2500k is the best. If you're using the computer for programs that are heavily threaded then the I7 2600 is good for that.

yep have to agree with intelenthusiast

plus the x79 motherboard is probably £50 dearer than an equivelant z68 motherboard as well

plus all those parts are very slightly cheaper on aria.co.uk than on ebuyer

And put the $100 you saved toward a better video card.

Or if they have a good card and they are using a Z68 board they can always add a nice little SSD (<64GB) and use the Intel® SRT (Smart Response Technology) and get a little better performance from that way.
