I just downloaded 5.0 version of Nero and it it a TON better than the older versions. Im thinkin of switching to NERO instead of Adaptec, but is there anything Adaptec can do that NERO cant?

I think they can do all pretty much the same stuff. Unless you have EZ CD Creator 4 Deluxe. The Deluxe version has video burning software to make vcds I think.

Nero 5 will also make VCDs.

The Nero software will allow you to do a multiple-disc back-up of you system. It tells you how many discs you need for the back-up,and al you have to do is sit there while it burns them. I don't think the Adaptec v4.0 does this. I just bought a new Yamaha 16x, and intend on investing in the Nero, despite the Adaptec v4.0 that is included. BTW- I am a fan ofthe v3.0 Adaptec, I used that quite happily on my old Acer burner.

i had v3 of adaptec as well-- problem it never supported anything, never got it to run with my generic drive. learned my lesson with generic brands :)
