Saw a lot of threads with similar but not my exact problem. When I press the power button on my PC it powers on for maybe 2-3 seconds and then shuts off. After another second it turns back on and proceeds to boot up and work perfectly. Runs games like SC2 and SW:TOR on highest settings with no problems and no crashes.

Build specs:
750 W Corsair TX750
Powercolor AX6870 1GB
Intel Core i5 2500K
Corsair Vengence 4GBx2
ASUS P9P67
1TB Seagate HDD
60GB OCZ Vertex SSD
Wireless Adapter
Sony 24X DVD drive
Cooler Master Elite 430
Only the stock case fan (more in the mail)

Note: An hour or so after it was up and running I noticed a cord was lodged in the case fan so it had stalled. I pulled it out and when I turned it on again it was working fine. Now, I noticed the whole turning off-and-on thing a few hours after that, for all I know it could've been happening the whole time, I just don't know. The computer boots very fast due to the OS being installed on the SSD.

Yes I think the mobo does automatically overclock. I'm not 100% sure as I'm not quite used to the asus bios options. Is there a problem or is restarting like that normal?

Usually those restarts happen (on other brands as well) when the system is overclocked. It tries to boot up initially, does not succeed, or needs to auto-adjust some values (voltages, RAM timings, etc) and then on the second try it works fine... Unfortunately those settings are not kept (I don't know why) and seem to be needed reapplied after a shut down and start (that is why it does it every freaking time), but usually system restarts don't exhibit this behaviour. Only if you completely shut down, wait a few minutes and then start up the machine.

Alright so if I manually O/C the CPU to a stable frequency instead of being auto it could remedy the problem?

No. Whether automatically or manually, if the OC is too high, you will have the same behaviour. On my PC for example, if I leave it on stock speeds, it works fine. If I also overclock it lightly, it still works fine (standby and boots first time around). With current settings (high overclock) I need to restart it once after it boots up after 2 seconds, but then it is rock stable, until the next cold restart.

Turned the Mobo's "TPU" setting on, which I believe is Asus's auto-overclocking feature. Since then it's been starting up just fine. Perhaps I had fiddled with the OC settings which I know little about a bit too much.
