Directory or file cannot be created

Hello,
I have been coping pictures from Kodak easy share to and 2 gb PNY card. all of a sudden I get the error message directory or file cannot be created.

Its probably the card failed...try it in another machine....

is the card full?
no - do you have all those files (pics) on the root?
- yes - theres a limit on how many files/directories you can have in root based on the format. for fat i beleive its 128
- no - the number of files in a directory for FAT formated drive is 512.

IE - reformat to fat32 or NTFS and test it in the evices its going to be used.

edit - fat32 max # of files in a folder is 65k for what its worth.

you can delete some files then you create new folder and copy the remaining files into tho new folder
