Buying NEW PC

Hi all,

Im planning to buy a whole new pc so i want the communities suggestions on what to get. Im gonna use this pc mainly for gaming but its gonna be the family pc too :D

My BUDGET = 1400$ to 1800$

CPU = I've thought of getting Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4Ghz (3rd Generation) or Intel Core i7 3770 3.4Ghz (3rd Generation)

Motherboards = i can spend between 300-400$ for a mobo so i want the best for that price. ( no need a mobo with a powerful onboard vga because im getting a seperate vga.

GPU = Im thinking of getting the GTX 660.

PSU = Corsair GS700 700W 80+ Bronze

Cases = I wouldnt mind some suggestions.. or i would just get the one recommended by store.

Memory = I dont know much about this stuff... i guess this one is good..
Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) Vengeance 1600 Mhz CL9 DDR3 kit

Storage = Im using 500GB one atm.. and its 80% full so i would like to get a 1TB one :) but i dont know much about HDD's and SSD's... so.. some help pls :)

Display = Im currently using a ViewSonic VA1716w
if this is OK then no prob :)

Keyboard = i want a long lasting one cause i use the keyboard alot.. wouldnt mind one with all the keys lighted :D

I guess thats all..
Please post your ideas :)

More about buying
  1. My suggestion:

    PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($169.99 @ Microcenter)
    CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($263.48 @ Amazon)
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg)
    Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.93 @ Amazon)
    Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.00 @ B&H)
    Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB Video Card ($409.66 @ NCIX US)
    Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Amazon)
    Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($64.99 @ Newegg)
    Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($16.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $1279.01
    (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

    RAM has been picked out of the Qualified Vendor List for the ASUS mobo.

    The radeon 7970 will perform way better than the gtx 660, and help in future proofing your build.

    I also recommend that you get a new monitor such as:
    Asus VE248H Black 24" 2ms Full HD. Else you'll have a Lamborghini Aventador engine under the hood with a Mini Cooper Chasis..

    Storage: You can install Windows and software on the SSD so that they run faster and put the rest of the data on the 1 TB drive. But it's important you tell your family to save their files, pictures, music, etc... on the 1 TB drive. Otherwise the SSD will fill up fast. What I would do is map some of the Users folders to the 1 TB drive (like "My Documents", "Desktop", "Pictures", "Music", etc...) so that it saves automatically on the 1 TB drive.

    Totally agree with Mysteryos about getting a new monitor. Having such a powerful PC and playing on a crappy 17" monitor doesn't make sense. You'll see, gaming on a Full HD 24" monitor will be a real treat.
