Wouldn't bother. Overclocked low end "junk" like your GT120 (?) only results in hotter junk. You need to replace your video card if you want to do any serious gaming.

It is like trying to get a Yugo to go 60mph in 60 seconds........ The only way is to push it off a cliff. By the way gaming on what is meant to be a server isn't a wise choice for gaming. Such systems are only meant for raw cpu and i/o but not much else.

Looks ok except for the slower quad and the "400W" PSU. I'm thinking some sort of 5670 or 6670. What's your resolution and what games do you play?

This is a rack server and options are very limited.

I suggest a separate build instead of trying to use a server for a game rig.

Not its not, look at his link. I think he meant he doesn't want to put a lot of $$$ into his gateway because he is saving for his Dell. That or he linked the wrong thing.

i have a 19" screen 1440 X 900 but i also have a full HD 1080p display so if i got to switch it out it doesn't matter. i also play all games on high resolution or at least try to with my video card

im putting a lot of money into my server which is the dell poweredge 2970 so i don't want to spend 500.00 on a geforce 590 graphics card and buy a new power supply so i want a good graphics card that can run on the 400 watt power supply

^ that is great advice
a HD 6670 is only about $100 or less
it is low wattage with no external power connector and easy on the PSU
and stick with the 1440x900 (?) monitor
and the card will play most new games at reasonably decent settings at that res

Wow did you just deviate from your original thread LOL

I would say look at the 550 to 600 w PSUs from a antec,XFX
Corsair Seasonic or XFX

and get a GTX 560Ti

since the budget is out the window :)

well sorry about going away from the original topic but the first guy said it was basically junk so i asked what i could get that was better and your solution is the best and from what i found it doesn't cost that much. found a psu 780 watt for 60.00 and the gtx 560ti for about 200.00 so thats not bad at all

~800W PSU for $60 huh? I bet its a junk PSU.

How much do you want to spend on the gamer? If you don't want to be spending money on it because your working on your server, stick with that. A 5670 should be fine for most games at 1440x900, and it should run fine on a stock Gateway 400W PSU. Will probably run you around $80ish, possibly less after rebate.

If you want to spend $280 on the gamer then we can do that. But I bet you don't want that PSU.

Yea 800w for $60
Send me a link to that one if it is an Antec or Seasonic :)

for about $60
I would take a serious look at this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and go with a GTX 560 TI
where did you find a %60Ti for $200?

I seriously got to shop where you shop LOL

to ask a dumb question
is is Ti or Non-Ti
that Ti makes a big difference
i made that mistake one time :)

Dont need 800w unless planning Crossfire or SLI
better off getting a quality 600w

an 560Ti is good choice

more than easily handle that resolutiion
and later with new monitor can easily play at 1920x1080 with good settings

I'd get this one. A bit more out the door, but it has more power and is cheaper if you win the rebate game.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If the budget if $400, then either PSU and a 6850/GTX460/GTX560(ti?) is more then enough for 1440x900. I'd get the PSU that I linked and a cheap 6850. After rebates it will probably cost you around $200.
