I have just built a second rig which consists of a
Intel Core i7 2600k ( OC 4.8Ghz )
Asus ENGTX580 1.5
8gb Corsair Vengence 1600mhz DDR3
Corsair AX1200 PSU
Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black 7200rpm SATA III w/ 64MB
( Waiting for Sata III ( 6 gb/s ) SSD to work out issues )
Zulman CNPS10X Extreme
Coolmaster Haf X Chassis

Im running Two 27" LCD Samsung Monitors at 1080. I built this rig mainly for BF3
but want to go SLI. Im worried that 1.5GB of VRAM isnt going to be enough. I do understand 90% of all games use 1gb or less. I do know that as of right now Crysis 2 with hi res pack on Dx11 and Metro 2033 use 1.5GB of VRAM. Im aiming for max settings on BF3 and only want to run single monitor game play for now but may want to go Triple in future. So my question becomes do you think its worth the extra $$ and do you think i will need the 3gb Ver to Max out full 1080 on hi res for BF3 ?

Solution
Above 1920x1200, I've likely opt for the 3gb version if possible, especially if you are a fan of high levels of AA/AF...

As you are at 1080P, personally, i think the standard 1.5GB is large enough of a framebuffer, regardless of settings.....; if you are planning on adding 2 more 1920x1080 monitors later, then get the 3 gb variants)

(I don't expect BF3 to be a Crysis/Metro rival with regards to requiring serious hardware to run well...)
