Mixed messages

A while back I bought a Core2 Duo E5200, and I'm confused about its actual speed. The BIOS reports it at 1.7GHz. WinXP reports it as 2.5GHz. So which is it?

It is 2.5ghz, I would check to see if speedstep is effecting the particular menu your seeing in your bios.

The cpu downclocks itself when you aren't doing anything to save power!
