ACER Z5610 CPU UPGRADE !

I own an Acer Z5610 All In One PC also know as Acer U9072.

The PC came with the Intel Q8200S CPU with a TDP of 65W and without any Virtualization feature. I am looking to upgrade the CPU and it is indeed very difficult to find any of these Low Power S variant CPU's. My question is :

1. Can I use for example the Intel Q9400 CPU instead of the Acer recommended Q9400S ?

2. Will the TDP difference be an issue ? The Q9400 is 95W TDP and the Q9400S is 65W TDP


I am planning to upgrade to the Q9560 if possible. Any advice will be very much appreciated. If anyone can even point me toward where to buy an S variant of any of these CPU's, i'll very much appreciate it.

You're going to find it impossible to find those cpus anywhere. And yes, you must stick with the "S" variant as 65W and 95W are not interchangeable parts.

Purchased the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550S CPU. Issue is, the Acer Z5610 Service Guide lists the Q9400S as the highest CPU.

My Worries :
Q9550S Die Size is bigger than that of the Q9400S
Q9550S is 12MB Cache and the Q9400S is 6MB Cache

Absolute Monster of a Machine NOW !

I would advise anyone going this direction to make sure they have the latest BIOS. Mine was done long before even thinking of the CPU upgrade. Not sure but it might make a difference.

Update : NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M 1GB MXM GPU Installed. All working excellent
