Upgrade suggestions

I have a 2 yr old desktop that i built from suggestions from you guys, I think its time for some upgrade.

BF3 is the main game that play and it has been boggy lately even at 1600x1200 resolution and medium settings.

This is my current setup

1 x ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
1 x SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
1 x COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M600 RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
1 x AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor HDZ720WFGIBOX
1 x Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I have a little over 300 dollars in gift cards I would like to spend on the upgrade. Can you guys help me upgrade the best way?

Mainly looking to play BF3 at a decent resolution without any crashes or glitches.

My initial plan is to get 1 Gb 6850 card and the 955 Denab x4 processor.

have you tried OC'ing your cpu?

if you can get somewhere arround the 3.5 ghz I think you can get a 6950 and wait on the cpu upgrade. 3 cores is still pretty good.

if you can get somewhere arround the 3.5 ghz I think you can get a 6950 and wait on the cpu upgrade. 3 cores is still pretty good.

hmm i was gonna wait to upgrade to 6850 and see how it goes and then upgrade the cpu if needed
but what u say makes sense, post pone the cpu upgrade and get the better gpu

no you shouldn't try. I don't think it even works.

How about getting a 6950 and getting a cooler such as a hyper 212 evo.
