The p8z77-v pro has two kinds of sata 6Gbps ports the ASMedia ones and the normal one wich are the best to use.

Use the gray ones for your Internal ssd or hhd. Use the3Gbps (blue) for optical drives. If you are using more than two hard drives that are 6Gbps then connect to the ( navy blue) connectors.
