Doing some research I learned that my motherboard can have up to 8gb of total ram (Vista home 64 bit). Im currently running a total of 4gb of ram now. I wanted to upgrade since ram appears to be pretty cheap and hope to see some performance increase. Memory upgrade specs

Dual channel memory architecture

Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets

Supported DIMM types:

PC2-5300 (667 MHz)

PC2-6400 (800 MHz)

Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered

Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs

Supports up to 8 GB on 64 bit PCs

Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs

There are so many, just wondering what you all would reccommend before I buy something that won't work. Thanks.

What about the Corsair XMS2 2GB?

:welcome:

That's correct!!:sourire: Your motherboard supports a max memory of 8GB. It has 4 DIMM slots and max per slot is 2GB. I bet your system is of HP. :pt1cable: Since, your system is of HP I do not recommend XMS2(fancy rams) cause these HP motherboards are very picky. Moreover, I cannot guarantee whether memory will work. Perhaps, it may work or may be not. Also you must know HP does not encourage users to manually tweak their BIOS (which is limited anyway:beurk:) if there is a need. So it is better to go with value rams of brands HP, Samsung, Kingston, Micron, Hynix etc.

Hope that helps. Adios. :)
