System stuttering

So I'm playing Deus Ex HR and every time I turn a corner to a new area my system stutters for a 1/2 second or more. Ive been getting the same thing in Oblivion when new areas load.

My 4870's are cross fired. I can't figure out what's causing this. I'm starting to suspect the HDD due to seeing it flash around the same time as he lag.

its your cpu.........poor lil athalon

thats a bottleneck and a half!!!


if you drop the resolution down to 1440 x 768 you may have better luck.....

but consider upgrading to a phenom ii X4

Well I kept a cpu monitor up while playing and my first core was at a constant 100% and the other 2 spiking near 80% each during lag moments and high action scenes. I think I will upgrade the cpu tho, seems like "recommended" in gaming is atleast a quad now.
