Desktop RAM

I am a gamer and i am thinking of buying a RAM for my desktop. i have a doubt regarding which is important for speed while buying a RAM. Is it the SIZE OF GB of the RAM or The FREQUENCY of the RAM ( 1067, 1333, 1600, 1866 ). Which RAM will be more helpful for gamers? for example: 4GB of RAM with 1600Mhz or 4GB of RAM with 1866Mhz

My motherboard supports 8gb and so i will go for 8gb with 1600MHz but with a CAS latency its not below 9. i checked with supporting memory list. So you advise me for 8gb with 1600Mhz rather than 8gb of 1866MHz. Is that right?
