Hi

I just installed my new dual core E6700 3.20GHZ CPU and runned a prime95 small FFts torture test with torture test threads set at 2.

And my core temps topped at 68-69 Celsius not higher

I ran a test on my previuos E5400 and it topped at 61-62 Celsius.

Normal intel cooler that came with the cpu with applied thermal compound.

Are these core tamps safe?

It's fine as you normally don't run it at it's maximum all day long. What's the ambient temperature?

A brand new E6700? Those were discontinued years ago.

Are you sure that's what you have?

Yes the temps are fine as long as the temps dont go over 70c under Prime95 then you should be fine. Like what was already stated above you wont tax the CPU in games and other apps as much as you will in prime95.

The original core 2 duos E6700 are obsolete http://ark.intel.com/products/27251/Intel-Core2-Duo-Pro...(4M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)

The newer dual core E6700 cpus are still current.

And Justin, your temps are fine.

So socket 775 cpu's are still current? Hmm......I had no idea.

I thought they were obsolete long before s1156 and s1366 were obsolete.

Ok thankyou

Yes on prime95 it never has gone over 68-69 Celsius.

And when i play bad company 2 for 3-4 hours it topped only at 53 Celsius.

And in my country there are a lot of dual cores especialy E6700 while E6800 are all gone.

Looks good to me. If you have the money you could get an aftermarket cooler like the Hyper212+ or Hyper212 Evo for better temps.
