I5-2500k vs Core 2 Quad...or just AMD

Hi there,

I'm going to buy a new motherboard to support my crossfire setting and I was wondering...

Currently, my motherboard has a core 2 quad 3.0ghz 12MB cache. If I buy a new modern motherboard I'm guessing the old generation of intel processors will not work anymore, will they?

So..would it be a good upgrade if I buy an i5-2500k? I heard good things about it but I need to know: Will it give me a better performance from the core 2 quad I have?

Or should I simply just go for AMD CPUs? I heard they're cheaper than intel and are pretty decent as well. I could definitely use whatever recommendations you guys through at me

Buy an 2500k. Is much better than any Core2Quad or AMD.

EDIT: Does this particular motherboard support wireless LAN? Or just wired lan?

Another thing: Should I buy a custom cooler? I'm thinking of OC'ing it a bit

A custom cooler is always preferable.

You can check the "Details" Tab on Newegg to see more specific features. Most if not all motherboards come with LAN, no WLAN.
