Dimension 8400

Hello,
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 and I just upgraded the graphics card to a GeForce gt520. I want to upgrade the processor to a quad core so that I can run some of the newer games without lag (Skyrim). It runs the game fine except it is choppy and it has to stop and load every once in a while which is annoying. It currently has a dual core Intel pentium 4 CPU 3.40GHz. Another question how do you check if it's dual core. Only one processor shows up in device manager and I know on other dual/quad core computers it shows multiple processors in device manager, but canyourunit says it is dual core. So did I install the processor wrong or is that normal? Anyways would I be able to upgrade to a quad core? The PSU has been upgraded and I can check what voltage it is if needed. I am looking for a cheap quad core processor around $100 $120 max.

Thanks!

Also what kind of port or socket does the processor have to be? I am new to all this sorry

Can't.
It's a P4 with Hyperthreading, that's why it shows up as a dual core.
It's a dead end machine, start saving for a new one ( won't need anywhere near as much money as a D8400 cost )
