Ok, I just want to know if ALL ata/100 ship "ultra." Simple question. Heh.

I bought a Western Digital (ducks) 20 gig ata/100. It didn't say if it was ultra or not. Just wondering thanks.

Oh yeah, my mobo does support "ultra ata/100" Its an asus a7v

W3rd.

ok ..quick rundown on IDE interface tranfer modes

PIO mode: 0,1,2,3,4
DMA mode: 0,1,2
UDMA mode: 0,1,2,3,4,5

Now the max bandwidth of either PIO or DMA mode is 16MB/s. Thus anything over 16MB/s must be Ultra DMA. Therefore, I conclude Dr. Watson that ATA100 must be UDMA or Ultra as you put it, which utilizes the same technology (before some I might add) as what allows the Athlon bus ..SCSI LVD.. DDR.. ER.. Melrose's Place.. oops got confused. mm so easy with all these abbrev.. <----there's another one..watch out!! ATA100 is the same as UDMA mode 5. But ATA100 looks really good plasterd on a box..

***Hey I run Intel... but let's get real***

ATA/100 and Ultra ATA/100 are the same thing, but it is usually called Ultra ATA (ever since Ultra ATA/66 came out I believe?)
