Totally removing Physx and reinstalling

Changed from old 8800gt to HD6870. Removed (or should I say thought I removed) Nvidia drivers and Physx. Went to play some games and low and behold Physx needs to be installed to launch the game. Tried to d-load and reinstall just Physx and get an error.. " Physx version installed is already newer than current install Aborting install" (or something like that). Tried to remove physx but it's not there.
Any ideas?

Put your 8800gt back in your system and install the latest drivers, then remove your 8800gt and this time, don't uninstall PhysX.

Do I need to uninstall the radeon driver first?

Win 7 doesn't require you to, but sometimes it can cause problems if you don't.
