Would the ASUS M5A78L/USB3 work with CrossFire aswell? I know its not officialy supported, but would it work? What would be my best bet?

Just found out that my case only has 2 fans, Cougar doesn't offer extra case fans anymore. Would 2 fans be enough for CrossFire?

Motherboard is AM3 not AM3+. That means no upgradeability to AMD FX CPUs...also instead of 4x2GB memory it's better to go for 2x4GB memory because you wont load up your motherboard and also you'll have room for another 2x4GB kit when you need it ;) PSU is overkill...even a good quality 650W can hold 2 6870 but to be sure go with a 750W unit. With your budget I wouldn't buy this screen which seems a very crappy OEM one but I would shoot for a Dell Ultrasharp U2312H (if I remember the name right)

Generally you could have better choices..give us a store you plan to buy and we can help further

The FX CPUs are not really good. It's more or less the same performance with a phenom ii. It's okay if it's not AM3+. It's not really that good to consider in the first place.

How's this:

> AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3 GHz Socket AM3 6MB Cache (125 watts),
> 8GB Corsair Memory DDR3 1600 (4 x 2GB),
> ASUS M5A78L/USB3 - AMD 760G - ATX - AM3+ - 4 x DDR3 2000 OC - RAID - EPU - USB3 PORTS,
> 1000Gb SATA Hard Drive SATA 3,
> No Secondary Hard Drive,
> LG BD-ROM 6X SATA GGC-H20L blu ray reader only drive,
> 2 x ATI HD 6870 1024MB PCI Express DDR DVI,
> NZXT M59 Midi Tower Gaming Case No Psu M59-001BK,
> CORSAIR CMPSU-850TXUK,
> Manufacturer Supplied Cooler,
> Integrated Sound Card,
> LOGITECH Stereo Speakers. S220,
> 21.6 Inch Cougar Extreme Wide Screen,
> Trust Uk wireless deskset,
> Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit,
> No Additional Software,
> TP-link wireless PCI adapter TL-WN350G,
> Free Courier Insurance,
> Saturday Shipping,
> Standard Warranty,
> Payment by Debit Card,

Plus the moniter is actually a HKC 2219A.

Around £1088.45

By the way, does the Motherboard support CrossFire?

My case only has two fans, there isn't an option for extra fans.
Are two fans enough for CrossFire?

For now I would stick with an Intel Core i5 2500K build and a single 6970 / GTX 570. The reason is that newer cards will come out and after that you can see what is better for you (add a second for crossfire or get a single newer)

It will be fine...if you need max airflow though you can add another one to blow cold air directly at the cards....also get referrence design cards so hot air stays outside of your case

Finally settled on this:

> AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3 GHz Socket AM3 6MB Cache (125 watts),
> 8GB DDR3 Corsair 1600 single module x2,
> ASUS M5A78L/USB3 - AMD 760G - ATX - AM3+ - 4 x DDR3 2000 OC - RAID - EPU - USB3 PORTS,
> 1000Gb SATA Hard Drive SATA 3,
> No Secondary Hard Drive,
> LG BD-ROM 6X SATA GGC-H20L blu ray reader only drive,
> ATI HD 6970 2048MB PCI Express DDR DVI,
> NZXT M59 Midi Tower Gaming Case No Psu M59-001BK,
> CORSAIR CMPSU-850TXUK,
> XIGMATEK SCORPION HDT-S1283 COOLER,
> CREATIVE OEM SB 5.1 VX,
> LOGITECH Stereo Speakers. S220,
> 21.6 Inch Cougar Extreme Wide Screen,
> Trust Uk wireless deskset,
> Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit,
> No Additional Software,
> TP-link wireless PCI adapter TL-WN350G,
> Free Courier Insurance,
> In Store Collection,
> Standard Warranty,
> Payment by Debit Card,

£1097.69

+ Upgradable processer (AM3+)
+ Can choose to add another 6970.

- 2 Case Fans.
- Cannot choose i5 2500k due to budget.

Any recommendations?
