Speaker drivers windows 7

I loaded windows 7 and find that my spaker icon has a red x and says the speaker is not plugged in but it is. I noticed windows xp had a sound test during installation but not windows 7. Only thing on the back of my speaker
is AC-110v/60Hz. I would be satisfied if just my pc speaker would work but
I get no sound from that port either. Thanks in advance.

Are your speakers plugged into the GREEN plug on the back of the computer?

If not, windows will not detect it as plugged in and give you that red X

You may also need to update your sound card drivers
