I have an Asus eee PC 1201N. It shuts down completely unexpectedly. I called Asus for help. They helped me install the latest Bios but that doesn't seem to have helped much. I think my netbook is overheating and shutting down. I've installed SpeedFan 4.45 and Core Temp 1.0. Each software shows different temperatures at the same moment.
Example:
Core Tem 1.0: TjMax: 125 deg. C, core 0: 78 deg C, core 1: 80 deg C
Speed Fan 4.45: GPU: 58 deg C, HDO: 29 deg C, Tem1: 68 deg C, core 0: 42 deg C, core 1: 44 deg C
Can somebody explain to me where the differences comes from? Which program is more reliable?
How can I lower the cpu temperature? How can I speed up the fan? BTW, I don't see the fan speed in SpeedFan - why?

Hi Rolli,

I cannot find the temp. reading in my netbook's BIOS. Looked at every tab/menu but don't see it. Any suggestions?

Yes, I actually took the netbook apart and used the canned air to clean the vents/fan. That didn't help much. Is there any software to measure the cpu temp. that would be compatible with this particular netbook?
