I'm upgrading my mothers video card from an old x1800XT 512Mb (I threw into her tower after upgrading mine a few months ago) to the HD 5670 1Gb in anticipation of a game she's been looking forward to. Will we see much of a difference in performance between these two cards?

Suppose I should've posted some relevant specs

AMD Phenom X4 9550 @2.2Ghz
Diablotek 550W PSU
4Gb Ram (Not sure of anything other than it's 4 gigs)

Also she will only be using resolutions 1280 x 1024 or 1440 x 900

I have an older athlon dual core @2.3ghz with a weaker gfx card than the 5670, but I can still run most games.

Can you overclock that CPU to 2.5 or 2.8Ghz? A higher speed is needed at lower resolutions. Or if your motherboard supports it buy a current triple core phenom 2 at around 2.8Ghz witch should not be that expensive since AMD CPU's are cheap.

^I'll fill in then...

Diablotek makes PSU-shaped objects that should not be attached to delicate electronics (such as computer components) if there is any possibility they will be connected to an A/C power source at the same time. They tend to be good for no more than 50% of their labels, and that not cleanly. They are prone to glorious deaths, taking other parts with them into the fiery abyss.
A quality modern PSU has full range active PFC (no little voltage switch) and some level of 80+ certification for efficiency. Seasonic, Antec, and Corsair make inexpensive units (<=$45) that are very good.

See Jonnyguru and Hardocp for example. Seriously, the company should be shutdown. There is no reason why they should be allowed to sell "PSUs".

Edit: Also no reason for them when you have Antec's 380W Green and Corsair's CX 430W both priced around $30.
