Looking at upgrading an old PC for under $100. Was wondering if an HP Pavillion XT856 will support a mATX motherboard combo. (this will increase my speed from 933mhz with 512mb memory to 2.6 ghz and 4 gb of memory. All i use the computer for is for the internet and music/picture storage.
Since the specs on this computer just says that it is using the 810 chipset I am going to have to guess but tell you how to make sure. I believe that the case supports Micro-ATX boards as it was the main standard at that time for this case. You can check if the board is about 9.5" x 9.5" (there is a little play in these size).
Just so you if you upgrade the board to something modern you may have to replace the PSU, and maybe even the hard drives that you have, you might even have to replace the OS.
