I'm upgrading to a multi-role computer (cant afford separate PCs at this time).
My motherboard is a ASrock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3
Im currently on a i3-2120 and a HD 6850.
I will be using my PC as a dedicated server for LAN parties for multiple games.
It is also a media work station for video rendering and Photoshop, flash, and illustrator often all at the same time.
I also will be doing my recreational gaming on it(gotta relax after a work day ya know)

How well will a Xeon E3-1220 or its ivy bridge counterpart E3-1220 v2 do vs a i5-3570k or a i5-2500k for fulfilling this multi-role pc and is there anything special I need to know about using a xeon besides its meant for servers?(I plan to use 16gb ram) my budget for the processor is only about $230 and that's already pushing it.
