Why dont my usb ports work

usb ports just stopped working. why would that happen?

Case USB ports? Or the ones attached to the motherboard?

If its front panel (on the case) its likely a wire could have come loose. If its motherboard USB ports, then it could be a software change on the computer, or it could be actually broken.

+1 ^^^ often you will find if you have been running external hdd's the usb ports burn out. because people just think , bang it in and it will work... most need a second usb port on a different circuit but most people just plug there usb power plug http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51f%2BPGLTiEL.jpg (the second usb at 1 end of the cable) in to the firsts shared port... so they inadvertently overload the usb lanes.

if you have 2 usb ports on the front of your case always make sure there on separate usb jack on the motherboard for this reason above all.

have1 on front and six on back, none of them work. just bought system, only 10wks old.

are they enabled in the bios?
Does your motherboard need a connector from the power supply attached for usb power?
Did it work before?

yes they worked before. the one on the front quit working before the others.
which pf key do i use to check bios?
