Why does my screen flicker only in Windows 7?

I have a HP 4530S laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. After five to ten minutes of usage, my screen starts flickering. Check the screenshot below.

I have also another OS installed (Fedore 13), but there I never get this flickering.

What could be the possible cause of the screen flickering only appearing in Windows 7? I am using the latest drivers from the HP site.

  1. I hate to tell you this but your computer is overheating. What you are seeing is artifacts caused by extreme heat. I would recommend returning the laptop to HP for service if it is still under warranty. If it is not still under warranty then you are pretty much screwed unless you want to pay HP to repair the damage which would likely be the entire motherboard if it has an intergrated graphics chip, or just the graphics card if it has one. Sorry about the bad news.
p.s. Always buy the extended warranty on laptops.
  2. Yeah, it could be overheating. Aero is Win7 will put stress of the GPU that others would not. You can try turning Aero off and seeing if that helps.
  3. I tried disabling Aero but got the same error. One thing I noted that I got this error only when I am on battery when I am on direct power I did not got this error, any idea?
  4. I have an idea, You worked on your laptop From 5 to 10 Minutes, Your Screen Starts Flickering, This may caused by either video card, Aero 3D Experience in Windows 7, or Laptop Overheat.
