i have been told the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition and the phenom ll x4 965 are the same cpu you can overclock them to the same overclock. i have been told not to pay to much for the 965. is this true with the amd phenom ll x6 series.
i hope this question is clear

Solution
Yes is true. Buy 955BE. About Phenom II X6, Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz is not Black Edition, but can be overclocked to 3.5Ghz. The other with BE in name can be overclocked a little more. And yes 1100T is an 1090T oveclocked from factory.

Solution
965 is able to operate at higher clock rate than a 955 at stock settings. that's why amd charges more for it. you can buy a 955 be and oc it to the similar level as a 965 be. it's called product binning. same thing with phenom ii x6 cpus. you can save money by getting the 955 be.
however, every cpu is different and overcloking depends on luck. two cpus from the same series might have stable oc at different settings.
