I touch my display and a water pond appears. Why?

Whenever I touch my LED or LCD display, be it a monitor, a HDTV or a notebook screen, I get a little pond, similar to a water wave when hit by a rock. How does this happens? The screens are not "touch" whats the point an purpuse of this? Secondly, I dont remember these ponds on my CRT...why is that?

dont poke it . You are damaging it
