i currently have 32 bit windows 7 ultimate installed, if i wanted 64 installed would i need to format.

if not, how do i do it.

You will be required to do a clean install when going from 32 bit to 64 bit. Uses a different structure. Your "old" windows will be saved, ie favorites, files you created a folder that can then be restored.

aww shucks, thanks but i have to do it i guess since 32 bits only picking up 3.13 gbs of ddr3 ram

how much would 64 bit pick up, i have 8gb ddr3 in dual channel

All of the 8gig and much much more. I am running 16gig in my system now.

For Win 7 64 ....

Home Basic can address 8 GB
Home Premium can address 16
Pro can address 192
